NFAA State Championships, Dunbarton NH

The spring season has gotten off to a great start this year, and we have lots of shoots ahead! In fact, there is one scheduled every weekend from now until early April, including our own Cabin Fever shoot and the New England Collegiate Championships.

This weekend, 3 UNH Archers traveled to Pioneer archery in Dunbarton, NH and competed in the NH NFAA State championships. We did great - and it was exciting to see some of the shooters who were getting into their stride.

Here are the results for the shoot!
Bridget O'Donnell (farthest right) was 2nd in her division (compound w/release), Aaron Longchamps was 1st in his division (compound fingers) and Heather Jackman (farthest left) was 3rd in her division (female recurve.)

Carla, the assistant coach also competed and picked up a second place spot in the female recurve division.

Archers Shine at CT Fall Classic at UCONN

Eight UNH Archers and assistant coach traveled to Storrs, Connecticut to participate in the CT Fall Classic. The UCONN Archery team put on a great shoot with the CT Target archers, and created a special collegiate line for us to shoot on. UNH, Brandeis and UCONN shooters went head to head in what is poised to be the first part of an intercollegiate archery circuit under development in the northeast.

Our UNH Archers fared well with 7 archers placing in the top 3 of their categories! Carla Companion, the assistant coach placed third in the female collegiate recurve division with Heather Jackman and Cat Suarez very close after her. In the male recurve division, Paul Heleen placed 2nd, and Mike Lauter - his debut competition with his recurve - placed 3rd. In the Female Compound division, UNH shooter Bridget O'Donnel took first, and Aaron Longchamps also took first in the Compound Fingers division. In the male compound division, Steve Rzpeka placed 2nd, followed by Kevin Roers placing third.

Congratulations to all of our UNH Shooters, and a big thank-you to UCONN for holding the shoot!  For more pictures of the UCONN shoot, check out our photo gallery. (Pictured in the photo above : Mike Lauter, Heather Jackman, Aaron Longchamps, Bridget O'Donnel, Steve Rzpeka)

UNH Archery Gives Back
UNH Archery visited Kittery Trading Post, in Kittery, Maine to give a little back to New England. Several club members (Kevin Roers, Mike Lauter, Paul Heleen and Cat Suarez) and the assistant coach (Carla Companion) ran a kid's archery booth to enlighten children on the sport of archery. Children as young as 2 years old to adults participated at the booth and were able to learn the fundamentals of shooting. Rain cut the second day short, but great experiences were had by all.
